Carefully insert a small flat-headed screwdriver into the U-shaped band of the gas strut and gently lift it up about 1/8 inch. This will allow you to pull the strut away from the car. 4. To install the new strut, follow the same process in reverse. Ensure that the U-band is lifted up before attaching the new support, as this will prevent any potential damage. 5. If the ends of the new strut are not properly aligned, you may need to rotate the entire bracket clockwise to achieve the correct positioning. First, connect the shaft end of the bracket to the vehicle, then rotate the bracket to align the ends.
